Manchester Staff and Buckleigh & Williams Group held our Health & Wellbeing Day which was super useful for building resilience, dealing with stress, improving mental & physical health, and maintaining healthy diets and mindsets.
The wellbeing session was really interactive and everyone got involved, benefiting from both the group talk and one on one massages.
Promoting wellbeing in the workplace is vital for increasing productivity, reducing stress, reduce physical health risks, and helps maintain high employee morale. We feel that our employees are the key to building a successful recruitment agency, and thus serving our clients and candidates better. A key part of our corporate strategy is to develop our employees in various ways from personal goal setting, mental health support, and CPD development in order to be the best we all can be.
“60 per cent of employees say they’d feel more motivated and more likely to recommend their organisation as a good place to work if their employer took action to support mental wellbeing.”

Our well being day covered a range of activities designed to educate, motivate and assist our workforce by promoting techniques that encourage healthy bodies and healthy minds as well as maintaining a positive mindset.
We were joined by the brilliant Adele Appleton, Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist from Poynton Holistic Clinic. Adele delivered a superb talk to our staff covering informative topics such as techniques for managing stress; how diet effects the mind, and the importance of maintaining a positive mindset.
Adele helped the team to develop techniques to increase their resistance to stress, such as the STOP technique, and 3-4-5 breathing techniques.
- STOP whatever you are doing
- TAKE a breath and anchor yourself to the present moment
- OBSERVE what is happening inside and outside
- PROCEED with what you are doing or something supportive

The team was educated in microbiomes and gut bugs that link a healthy digestive system and body to a healthy mind. We were taught about the importance of healthy eating and consuming a diverse range of fibres, healthy fats and how different diets affect mental healthy, anxiety and depression.
The talk also covered reframing, which is essentially how to keep a positive mental attitude and how this affects motivation and productivity as well as how we interpret stressful events.
Throughout the day, all the staff were treated to private back, shoulder and head massages that were extremely invigorating and allowed the team to feel mentally ready to take on their daily challenges.
A delicious, wholesome lunch was provided by Nourish in Wilmslow, who delivered healthy meals for the team. The food at Nourish is extremely fresh, with the best produce being used to prepare healthy, balanced meals. This was that perfect lunch for the team, that really set us all up for the second half of the day.
At the end of the day we held a raffle where the team were able to win perks such as massage/treatment vouchers; extra days holiday; late starts; and special lunches with the Directors.
